President’s Update | Hakoah at White City Project

As foreshadowed in my Passover message to you in April, I am writing on behalf of the Hakoah Club Board to provide a further update on the Hakoah at White City Project.

At that time, you would have noticed a lack of progress on the construction site. Unfortunately, this has continued.

After much deliberation and having sought relevant legal and professional advice, I wish to advise the Club has terminated the Building Contract with Parkview Constructions.

The Board and Development Steering Committee believe this decision is in the best interests of the Club and the community.

The Board is 100% committed to recommencing construction with a suitably qualified contractor to complete the project as economically and as soon as is practical.

The construction industry is going through a particularly difficult time with many builders and subcontractors struggling and going into financial administration. However, the Club has engaged a team of specialist construction, cost planning and programming experts and believe we are in a sound position to restart the project as soon as possible and aim to open the new club premises in 2025.

The Board is committed to keeping you informed on a timely basis.  We will update you once the replacement builder has been engaged and a clearer picture emerges with regards to cost, funding, and timing implications.

None of us should lose sight of our purpose – to build a world class community, sport and cultural centre which will once again become the hub of the Sydney Jewish Community. Nothing could be more important at this most difficult moment in history for Israel and the Jewish people.

The Board and Development Steering Committee take this situation extremely seriously and understand our responsibility to all stakeholders to navigate the Club through this challenging period.

We thank you for your ongoing support and patience. Please do not hesitate to contact the Club  (myclub@hakoah.com.au), if you have any questions or concerns.
